I grew up in Oklahoma by explorers and artists. My mother owned a dance studio and taught me to dance. My dad is an Eagle Scout who took me camping and taught me to explore. Almost every summer as a kid, I came to Oregon to visit my dad’s sister.
After graduating college with a degree in graphic design, I worked for newspapers and magazines where I became proficient in page layout.
I got married, learned to SCUBA dive and together with my husband, bought a dive store. I became a scuba instructor and ran the dive center as my own business for seven years.
…After my divorce, I went back to doing graphic design in the beauty industry for a few years.
I wanted to spread my wings so I took a job Durham, North Carolina with Divers Alert Network. DAN is the second largest scuba diving agency in the world. I started as an industry membership representative where my customers were dive store owners. I was promoted to the marketing department and became a field rep. I played the role of road warrior and represented the organization in the field at trade shows and dive community events.
Soon I was overseeing the trade show and events program at DAN. I kept marketing events and added the role of managing an international team of field reps.
After working at DAN for seven years I left to work at Reef & Rainforest Dive & Adventure Travel in Portland, Oregon.
I started HighViz Marketing in early 2014 because I saw that my scuba-diving business-owning friends could use some help with marketing their businesses online. I write helpful marketing-focus blog posts and offer resources for my readers to help carry out inbound marketing strategies. Here’s more about how I plan to save the scuba industry.
While running HighViz Marketing, I also do freelance graphic design work. This website is a showcase for that work.
