I love social media.
I can’t get enough of it.
In my spare time I read everything I can on the subject.
I’m fascinated how social media has leveled the playing field.
I was able to fly my social media geek-flag high on Monday night at Gary Vaynerchuk’s book signing at Powell’s.
Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy Social World is on a book tour. WIth only a few cities on the tour schedule Portland was one of them. You bet I was going.
Vaynerchuk is known as a thought leader in the social media industry. After watching a few of his keynote speeches on YouTube I realized he is shouting to the world my thoughts on content marketing. He shouts with passion. He shouts with cuss words. He’s saying what I want to say about social media.
I had visualized all the witty things I was going to say when it was my turn at the table to get my autograph. I got up there and I might as well have told him I carried the watermelon.
I said I was a big fan. He was gracious and polite and let me get a photograph.
Maybe my in my next post, I’ll say what I wanted to say and didn’t. Something about how I love content marketing so much that I quite my job to start my own marketing business. And how I want to help small businesses tell their story in a noisy social world.
